The Honest Answer

When you should keep WordPress, and when you should not.

Keep it if you publish often and your team already knows the admin, if you depend on a plugin that genuinely has no equivalent elsewhere, if you run a store on WooCommerce that is working, or if the site is simply fine and someone is trying to sell you a rebuild you do not need. A maintained WordPress site is not a liability. Plenty of good Cincinnati businesses should stay exactly where they are.

Move if you are paying a monthly fee to keep something alive that you never use, if every change requires a developer because the theme fights you, if the site has been hacked or is on its second security cleanup, or if it loads in five seconds on a phone and no amount of plugin tuning has fixed it. How a WordPress project actually runs.

Full Wave is Trevor and Chase, a two-person Cincinnati team. That is the whole company, and it is why the following is true rather than a promise on a page.

We audit before we quote. We need to see the install — plugins, theme, host, PHP version, backup situation, who has admin. Half an hour of looking prevents a quote that is wrong in both directions. This part is free and you get the findings whether or not you hire us.

You get told the cheap option first. If the fix is three hours of cleanup, we will say so, even though a rebuild is the bigger invoice. That is not generosity — it is that we would rather have the maintenance client for five years than the rebuild client once.

Nothing happens on the live site without a backup. Updates and changes get staged and tested first. A WordPress site that goes down mid-update on a Friday is the single most common way small businesses lose a weekend of calls.

You own everything. The domain, the hosting account, the admin logins, the content. If you leave, all of it goes with you and we will help hand it over. This matters more on WordPress than anywhere else, because locked-down admin access is how agencies keep clients who want to go.

Do you actually work on WordPress, or will you just try to move me off it?

We work on it. Audits, updates, security cleanups, speed work, custom themes, and new builds. We have built on WordPress and on custom code, and the recommendation depends on your site rather than our preference. If your install is healthy, the right advice is to keep it and maintain it properly, and that is what you will get.

How much does WordPress maintenance cost in Cincinnati?

It depends on how many plugins are in play, whether there is a store attached, and what state the site is in when we take it over. A simple brochure site is a small monthly number; a WooCommerce store with a dozen extensions is meaningfully more, because there is more that can break. You get a fixed monthly figure after the audit, not a range.

My WordPress site got hacked. Can you fix it?

Usually, yes. The work is cleaning the infection, closing the way in, rotating every credential, and getting off whatever outdated thing allowed it. The part people skip is the last one — a cleanup without an update just means it happens again in a few months. If the site has been compromised twice, that is one of the clearest signals that a rebuild is cheaper than continuing.

Why is my WordPress site so slow?

Almost always a short list: oversized images that were never compressed, a page builder loading far more code than the page uses, too many plugins each adding their own scripts, and cheap shared hosting. It is rarely mysterious. An audit will tell you which of those apply to you and roughly what each is costing you in load time.

Will moving off WordPress hurt my Google rankings?

Not if it is done properly, and badly if it is not. Every existing URL has to either survive or permanently redirect to its replacement, the content has to come across, and the structured data and metadata have to be rebuilt rather than lost. Sites that lose rankings in a migration lose them because someone skipped the redirect map. That is the part we do first, not last.

Can you take over from our current WordPress developer?

Yes, and it is common. What we need is admin access, the hosting login, and the domain registrar. If your current developer holds all three and will not release them, tell us early — that is a specific situation with a specific process, and it is worth knowing before you give notice rather than after.

Do you host WordPress sites?

We can, and for maintenance clients it is usually simpler because it puts the hosting and the upkeep in one place. We are not precious about it though. If you are already on a decent host, staying there is fine and we will work with it.
